Geethasaram is the essense of Bhagavat Gita. According to our Hindu mythology Lord Krishna said it to Arjuna in the war front. Wonder why ? After seeing his Guru, relatives and friends standing as enemies in the war-front, Arjuna do not want to fight with them and kill them. Lord Krishna told Arjuna, what is life? What is good? What is a sin? What is bad? The meaning of all the relationships like father, mother, brother, in-laws, ... All these you could find in Geeta. I would say Bhagavat Gita is a guide for our life. Go ahead pick one ! The initial chapters gives you a feel of reading about a war ! Do not keep the book down. Keep reading you will find it more interesting !

Yes, it is. Basically, this is the guide and there is no one to enforce the guidelines.
